My Part of the Galaxy: Volume 7
SUMMER: Summer is once more upon us, and a full year has gone by since I graduated from High School.
How have times changed! It feels weird when I think about that, but such is life. But it does bring up one interesting question:
What will my friends be doing over the summer? Will they be hanging out or doing anything special? Only they know, and I certainly
wouldn't mind hearing about it! As for me, my summer will most likely consist of trying to find a job, something that I am
in the process of doing right now. I have to provide some way for me to pay for the upcoming fall semester (not to mention
summer classes). It seems that summer is no longer that care-free time when I could just loaf around like Brer Rabbit without
a care or worry in the world. I really do envy that life sometimes...But nothing is ever gained from that lifestyle. In any
case, summer is here! And I can't wait.
THE MICHAEL JACKSON TRIAL: This is bound to be a controversial subject, but as it is the headlines
these days, I figured I would speak on it. As some of my friends know, I am a fan of Michael Jackson and his music. I loved
him in Captain EO ever since I was a kid, and grew up with his music. I still love his music and his personality today, even
though it's coming under fire as of late. However, I do want to say this: I have always believed Michael Jackson to be innocent
of the charges that have been set against him. I have watched and studied everything about him since 2003. Every TV special,
movies, music, whatever. As we are in the jury deliberation phase (which will probably be over and a verdict found by the
time you read this), I thought that I would let everyone know that fact. With that said however, if he is found guilty of
the charges brought against him, I will accept and admit that in his personal life, he was not the person I maybe thought
he was. It's tough to say though, because if you've been keeping tabs on this case (as I have, even reading court transcripts)
you would notice that (in my personal opinion) how much of an extortionist and dishonest his accuser and his family turned
out to be. So, if Micheal Jackson is found guilty, I would admit and accept it. If he is found innocent, then all my arguments
and beliefs would have been worth it, and I can with honest conviction slap people down the next time they make a joke on
his behalf (hehe). If not, then oh well. I loved him and his music, but I can't support him in his mistakes. Love the sinner,
hate the sin, I guess.
